How Cambelts Work

A cambelt (sometimes known as the timing belt) controls the timing of a vehicle’s engine. This engine is fragile, needs constant maintenance eg. lubrication. The cambelt controls the timing between the engine valves and pistons, allowing car fuel to move in and the gas to move out of the engine in an efficient way. A failed cambelt could lead to irreversible damage for your vehicle. With a non-functional cambelt, the pistons can end up colliding. There are dire implications of cambelt failure, with expensive mechanical repairs being the most obvious. Check the manufacturer’s instructions on when they recommend a car cambelt should be changed. Each car manufacturer supplies a different quality of cambelt with their vehicle, so lifespan will differ.
