What Has Changed With Road Tax?

After years of being a perforated paper circle, the way to purchase road tax finally changed in October of last year, but what has changed exactly? Now all handled electronically, the tax database keeps a track of who’s paid for their road tax, with those who haven’t threatened with a fine up to £1000. There’s now no need to display a paper tax disc on your windscreens, with purchases made online. If you have no access to the internet, you can pay at the local post office. You can also now pay for your road tax by direct debit, meaning no need to worry about your road tax running out. When you now sell a car, the road tax does not get transferred automatically, with the new owner having to renew the tax straight away. The seller can claim a refund from the DVLA for any months left on the vehicle’s tax.
