If you can, ask the mechanic for a schedule of the work, and if they reject the opportunity to provide one or to clear up exactly what they would be doing then it is better to avoid. If you do not ask questions about a service then you may find yourself splashing out the cash to have a mechanic pick on small issues which result in costly repairs. You should also see if the job is price per hour, and again if it is then it is better to avoid. A mechanic may take his or her time to make more money, and if you can get a set price that you agree with then you’ll feel a lot more relaxed about the situation.
